Creating Zones in a Challenging Floor Plan
Our design team’s first site visit to this Golden Valley home revealed a warm, updated walk-out rambler in a charming established neighborhood just outside the city. During the walk-through, it was clear that the homeowners preserved the original appeal of the home during their remodeling updates, while updating it for modern living. Our job was to add furniture and decor to complement the smart modern feel of this home and get it ready for the real estate market.
Most home styling projects have their challenges, and this one presented itself in the lower level, with its long-and-narrow layout. According to Mary Gunder, Ambiance Home Staging’s Creative Director, “we knew it would be difficult for the average buyer to envision how to make sense of the space,” but soon a plan came together.
“We decided to create ‘zones’ with spaces that were purposeful, such as a reading/work area and a game area,” Mary explained.
The Ambiance design team varied heights of the furnishings to create interest as potential buyers pass through, and they made sure the furniture was not “blocky” or heavy.
“Once everything was in, we were absolutely delighted with the result!” said Mary.
